Lolli Bean’s works with the International Breast Milk Project and Heifer International, two non-profit organizations that share our passion to inspire a better quality of life for the world’s children.
The International Breast Milk Project: Creating awareness of the need for donor human milk
The vision of the International Breast Milk Project is that every infant in the world will have access to donor human milk as a first choice when mom’s own milk is not available.
In order to maximize the impact on the world, IBMP provides both short and long term solutions. On one end, by providing immediate direct relief for infants suffering from malnourishment, hunger and life-threatening illnesses in developing countries, and on the other end, providing funding and support for long term, sustainable solutions that build the capacity of local milk banks and health care systems as a whole.
IBMP’s strategy includes:
- Raising awareness about opportunities to donate milk in South Africa and around the world.
- Providing immediate direct relief for infants suffering from malnourishment, hunger and life-threatening illnesses in South Africa.
- Funding and supporting local milk bank development in Africa.
- Advocate for policies that support and encourage milk banking around the world.

Heifer International: Ending world hunger & poverty and caring for the earth
With Heifer’s proven holistic approach to helping people obtain a sustainable source of food and income, people who were once hungry will be nourished by milk, eggs and fresh vegetables; families who for generations only knew poverty will be building new homes and starting businesses, and children who once headed out to the fields to do backbreaking work are instead heading to schoolrooms to learn to read.
The following is Heifer’s set of global initiatives:
Agroecology
In a world where land is overused, community members need to learn how to protect and rejuvenate their land, water and other natural resources. Heifer helps by teaching environmentally sound agricultural techniques.
Animal Well-Being
Before any Heifer animal is passed along to a project partner, Heifer trains the new recipient in animal management, using our strictly enforced Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Gender Equity
In Heifer’s view, gender equity is a social justice and human rights issue that directly leads to ending hunger and poverty. That’s why our participants are equal partners in sustainable development projects.
HIV-AIDS
Today, we as a world community, confront AIDS, a virus that in the past 25 years has either infected or killed over 64 million people. It is not only a health issue, as it fractures every sector of society, for Heifer, it is a prominent concern in the arena of sustainable development. This is why Heifer is incorporating HIV/AIDS education in our community training groups.
Microenterprise
Heifer provides both “no-interest living loans” in the form of livestock, as well as small monetary loans to help people start and expand businesses that yield big benefits for families.
Urban Agriculture
Heifer is reconnecting city-dwellers with their food sources, building strong alliances and instilling an entrepreneurial spirit among adults and youth through our Urban Agriculture projects.
Young People’s Initiative
Heifer weaves youth-focused programs through all our project work and emphasizes young people’s needs.
